This September the Cult of Cthulhu will meet on a remote island, once an insane asylum for society’s undesirables, to finally fulfil the call Cthulhu made in 1925. You will take the role of a devoted cultist, navigating the fractured alliances, desperate schemes, and the creeping madness that comes from facing the infinite cosmos. Through intense eldritch rituals, religious practice, clandestine negotiations, and profound isolation, the island itself will challenge your resolve and reshape your perception of reality, yourself and what it means to be human.
Themes of cosmic terror, environmental decay, and the fragility of human constructs weave through every aspect of the experience. Divided by ambition and ideology, the cult is fractured between those who seek salvation and those who revel in chaos.
Step into the unknown and claim your place in a story that will challenge your mind, your alliances, and your very sense of reality. The Last Call is not just a summons—it is an invitation to reshape the world or be devoured by its unraveling. Will you awaken the Great Old One and seize your destiny, or let the rising tide consume all that you are?
What is it about
The calls of Cthulhu started on February 28, 2025. and has been going on for several months now, with global chaos, madness, and covert actions by the cult as a result…
All branches, orders, covens, and shades of the Cthulhu cult gather in different, secret locations all over the world, each with their own specific purpose, and at this larp, we will follow the tale of the cultists at one of those gatherings.
EVERY player is a cultist, (as the larp is exclusively played from their perspective) that has come together on the mysterious Vaelsh Island, for the purpose of performing a series of rituals that will create an occult magical network that will connect the various cults on a global level, thereby strengthening and channeling their collective magic, in order to create a network that Great Cthulhu can use to spread his power across the globe with immediate effect.
It is an extremely important, but not terribly glorious task…
Aside from this important task, the Cultists are expected to do what they have always done; To conduct rituals, dark orgies and black masses, enact grand sacrifices, delve into dark lore and inhuman spells from forbidden books, to create twisted glorious art to inspire each other, and to cast forbidden spells in order to prepare not only themselves for the future, but also for the coming of Great Cthulhu.
There are three groupings present on the island; The cult of Cthulhu, the hybrid children of Dagon, and unknown to both of these groups, are also infiltrators of another Cthulhu mythos being, who have their own plans and agendas.
What themes will be explored
Aside from the traditional themes associated with larps that draws inspiration from the Cthulhu mythos, the threat of climate change, and cosmic resignation and indifference; that human civilization, with its many social constructs, are considered events so tiny and having happened so fast that they hardly can be said to have occurred at all in the face of the ever expanding, utterly alien cosmos.
What is it really about?
All good horror stories have underlying themes; John Carpenters’ The Thing was considered a perfect metaphor for the AIDS crisis at the time, the first Scream movie was a metaphor and commentary on depression and isolationism, E.T. (?) was a metaphor for divorce, the obvious ones are the end of the world, the environmental crisis, responsibility, effort, powerlessness and all what they entail.
But the inability for the political wing of the left to find common ground on extremely important matters, during extremely important situations, either due to previous controversies, internal power play, detailed disagreements regarding planning, etc. is also going to be a common thread throughout the story.
This theme has been explored previously in other larps and roleplaying games, but perhaps most notably in the TTRPG Werewolf; The Apocalypse, where part of the main plot consists of the various tribes of werewolves being unable to unite in their fight against their ancient enemy, The Wyrm, due to many different reasons.

A Note on H.P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos
H.P. Lovecraft was a major influence in horror fiction, but his racist beliefs—expressed both privately and in his work—are indefensible. These views have no place in our world today.
However, the Cthulhu Mythos has grown far beyond Lovecraft, shaped by many diverse voices who have expanded and reimagined it. We engage critically with this legacy, embracing the cosmic horror and mystery while rejecting the racism present in some of his works.
This event is a space for exploration, storytelling, and shared creativity. We are committed to inclusivity and welcome all participants. Themes of the unknown, fear, and discovery will be explored with care and respect. Together, we create a world where horror is immersive, thought-provoking, and open to all.
